For the first time in TD bank history, a branch was opened in the Tsuut’ina Nation’s new Buffalo run shopping district, that is fully Indigenous Staffed.
The ceremony, held on October 20, included a blessing from a Tsuut’ina Elder, round dance, grand entry into the new building and a $5,000 dollar donation to the Tsuut’ina Food Bank.
The bank said it’s part of a commitment to the truth and reconciliation commission’s calls to action, including calls on corporate Canada to ensure Indigenous people have access to jobs, training and education.
TD opened this branch as part of the organization’s response to the TRC Call to action 92.
Call to action 92 calls upon corporations in Canada and the United States to apply reconciliation as part of its framework and apply its principles, norms and standards to corporate policy.
