The leaders vying to become Canada’s next prime minister have officially kicked off their campaigns.
on Sunday morning, PM Mark Carney paid Gov. Gen. Mary Simon a visit to ask that she issue the writs of election.
Canadians will cast their ballots on April 28 after a five-week campaign.
The date means Carney has opted for the shortest possible campaign period allowed under Canadian law.
It also means advance polls would take place over Easter weekend.
To vote in a federal election, you must be registered on the list of electors.
