Terry Ree, well known for his comedic role as “The Indian” in the group “Williams and Ree” has died.
The duo of “The Indian and The White Guy” with longtime friend Bruce Williams started their journey in the late 1960s, retiring from touring in early 2024.
Williams and Ree first met in 1968 in South Dakota as members of a band who filled time between songs with comedy sketches. Their humor soon became more popular than their music. Much of the duo’s banter plays upon the stereotypes held of Native Americans.
Williams and Ree had performed with the likes of garth Brooks, the Oak Ridge boys and Tim McGraw, and made many TV appearances.
The duo had also performed numerous times on the stage of Big valley Jamboree in Camrose & Country Thunder in Southern Alberta.
In 2018, Williams and Ree were inducted into the South Dakota Rock and Roll Music Association Hall of Fame.
