Back in February a program was launched to help Indigenous artists play outside of Canada at various festivals and grow their audiences in various markets.

This initiative was spearheaded by the sākihiwē festival in partnership with Manitoba Music and Canada Council for the Arts.

Indigenous artists have been making a splash in the Canadian music scene as the 2024 JUNO’s had a large presence in various categories with standout Aysanabee walking way with two awards.

Project lead and Festival Director for Aboriginal Music Manitoba Alen Greyeyes spoke with Nefew Keith to learn more about the program and what it means for Indigenous artists going forward.
